"The Streak" wins MDPL Singles Series Grand Final
.Yesterday saw the Grand Finale of our Singles Series.
Unfortunately we had a few no shows/ call offs, but in the end that worked in everyone's favour as a large percentage of the matches went 6-5 or 7-6 deciders, so matches tended to be quite long.
In the end, we came down to the 4 semi finalists of John MacFarlane, Bert McAdam, Teemas and Brian Jenkins.
The 1st semi final saw a comfortable win for Teemas over Brian Jenkins (who to be fair had just gone through 2 7-6 matches and was feeling drained. In the other semi final, John overcame Bert in a very tactical match. In the final, John opened an early lead against Teemas, only to be pegged back to 3-2. John then stretched his lead again to 5-2 before seeing the match out 7-3.
Some excellent performances today including Brian Jenkins and Tam Aitchison (who very unfortunately lost his decider against John MacFarlane in a cruel roll of the black). Overall the day saw some fantastic pool being played.
Congratulations to John in winning the Grand Finale and unlucky to Teemas who played well all day. Thanks again to all the players who have taken part over these 4 events. Thanks also to our host and league sponsor Juniors Sports Bar.
Over the 4 events, payouts have totalled nearly £1,500 which has been good value for the £15 entry fee back in September. Hopefully everyone has enjoyed this series in the absence of IMs.
Cash prizes all paid out and the winners trophy will be presented on Finals night.
